I just thought I would let everyone know where our taxes are going. The US Embassy in Dar Es Salaam is absurd. First of all, its huge and gated. The lawns are perfectly manicured, the complex is so much bigger than everything around it, and the insides are amazing. I went out there- yes, there is a BAR inside the US embassy, for the marines. It’s known as “The Marine House” and it’s the cheapest bar in Dar. As far as I can tell, you don’t actually have to pay anything to drink there. Inside the Marine House there is a huge flat screen television, complete with RockBand and other amenities. Everything inside the Marine House is imported. And I mean everything. They have all different types of alcohol and beer. There are light-up Budweiser signs and much more. It’s ridiculous. Glad to see our money is being put to use in a constructive way.
