Zanzibar

My friend Henry and I went to Zanzibar last week. It was really, really fun. We arrived to Stonetown the first night, looked around and got some food. We watched the sunset from the roof of the Africa House Hotel, which was funny because it was crowded with all of these tourists taking so many pictures. Stonetown is cool- I really liked walking around the narrow streets and seeing all of the markets.
The next morning we got a ride to Paje beach, on the Southeast coast of Zanzibar. We stayed at Paje by Night, run by an Italian man named Marco. We met some really nice Italians that we befriended in the pool. We actually ended up having dinner with them the last night- it was a cultural experience.

In general, we just relaxed on the beach and pool, and went out at night. Henry went kitesurfing, and I read a ton. I also bought 2 paintings that I am excited about. The morning we were supposed to leave was interesting- we hadn't figured out how to get back to Dar. We got in a cab, frantically calling airlines to see if they had any seats available on flights. We ended up getting 2 seats on the 12 pm flight. They were 40 dollars each and the flight was 15 minutes. Then, I flew in a tiny plane back to Kisampa. I'm exhausted, but very happy to be back at Kisampa. We have school this morning, and we are going to the river this afternoon to swim. We are making a fire and cooking an early dinner there also, over the fire. Sausages, baked beans, and bread.
Also, there is a Welsh medical student named Mared who is here until September 6th. She is my age and really nice. Its great to have a new friend and someone my age living here. Also, I will probably be able to go to the village more now that she is going. So, everything is going well!
