This morning my flight arrived half an hour before it was supposed to. I slept most of the plane ride, woke up to see the sun rising over the African landscape (very pretty). Mr Deo, the driver picking me up, was waiting for me once I got my bags (thank goodness they weren't lost).
He was waiting for me with a sign that said:
MAMA CRISSY. WELCOME.
haha. i thought that was funny. Mr. Deo was very nice. He drove me to the center of Dar, dealing with a little morning traffic. I saw many African ladies with things on their heads (bundles of stuff, etc). Then, I got a cell phone!!
The country code from the US is 255, and you probably need to add +001 255.
My cell number is 0758146999. Text me! Call me!
So, then Mr. Deo took me to the bed and breakfast I am staying in for the day/night. It's a woman's house and is so pretty. I am in the main room with a big tv and couches waiting for my personal bedroom to be ready. They are very hospitable, and after I set my things down the cook made me a big breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, and delicious juice. While I was eating breakfast, all of a sudden I hear a squeaky voice yell "HELLO! GOOD MORNING!"
I turn around and there is a parrot behind me, watching me eat my breakfast!
Now I'm just relaxing and watching TV until Rob and Jackie (the owners of Kisampa) come and meet me this afternoon. I'm excited to see them. We'll spend the night and then go to a camp in the Selous National Park for 5 days. I will have internet later on today and tonight at the B and B but then I probably won't have it for 5 or 6 days.
Anyway! I'm happy to be here, the weather is beautiful, and everything is going great!
